How can the latest Big Data and Digital tech help your firm?
Many firms are using new digital technologies to radically change how they manage customer relationships, how they can redesign their products and how they can work with ecosystems of partners. Big Data Analytics, the Internet of Things and digital services complement products and use data in innovative new ways.
New technologies like Big Data Analytics can help firms to see patterns in their market or to target customers more effectively. Mobile phone apps are being used to add services to products and to collect data on how the products are used. Any product with software and a wifi or phone connection is now part of the Internet of Things (IoT). This will revolutionise how all products can help their users to be more successful. And how firms work with their customers. For example the IoT turns every product into a loyalty card – and opens the customer data flood gates.
Big Data analytics techniques are revolutionising how some firms run their business but they are very new and it can be unclear how to use them in each particular firm. Every firms needs to understand the opportunities of using data to create business value. Other technologies such as AI, chat bots and Blockchain also present opportunities and need to be considered as part of firms’ overall business strategies.
Recent projects undertaken by Nottingham University Business School MBA students have helped firms to understand how new digital technologies and new ways of using data can be incorporated into their businesses resulting in cost reductions and greater operational efficiencies. Other projects have looked at how firms market their products and services and how to improve different aspects of business operations. Over the years Nottingham MBA projects have helped firms with issues in marketing, finance, risk, economics and many other parts of the business. The key thing is that each project is focused on what the business needs at the time.
