We have over 300 high calibre full time postgraduate students studying business related Masters Degrees at Nottingham University Business School. This year we have students from 47 different countries who bring with them a wide range of skills and perspectives.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for companies to link with students and academics to research business issues through our Company Based Dissertation Scheme.
What is a Company Based Dissertation?
- A Company Based Dissertation is a 4 – 12 week research project.
- The research area will driven by you and a brief will be agreed between you and an academic supervisor in advance.
- You will be able to interview recommended students from a wide variety of backgrounds bringing with them different perspectives and areas of expertise.
- Findings and recommendations will be shared for you and your company to consider.
- This research can greatly benefit your business and as it contributes to our student’s academic learning, they benefit too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are Nottingham University Business School’s areas of expertise?
A: We are internationally recognised for our research in Business and Corporate Strategy, Banking, Finance, Logistics, Marketing and Operations Management.
Q: Is there a cost implication to this scheme?
A: As a general rule you are expected to pay expenses incurred by the student during the lifespan of the project but the student will not expect to be paid.
Q: What about confidentiality?
A: If required for the project the successfully selected student will sign a voluntary nondisclosure agreement.
Q: What is expected of me?
A: We expect you to be available as a regular point of contact for the student during the research project. We also expect you to share the necessary information required for the student to complete the research project.
