Your Students’ Union (SU) is here throughout your degree and beyond, with opportunities to discover your passion, excel at it, and make your CV outstanding.

Whether you're part of our societies, sports clubs and annual Varsity event or trying your hand at volunteering with one of the many local and national opportunities on offer, your SU has something for you.

Why not consider taking on a representation role such as a course or education rep, Halls of Residence rep, a member of the Democratic Procedures Committee or an Officer, to make real positive changes for your fellow students.

Getting involved in your SU can help you:

  • work as a team
  • develop your leadership skills
  • manage budgets and test your financial skills
  • make a positive impact on people and their communities
  • discover your hidden talents

Sean Nolan, Sports Officer

Sean Nolan

As an officer, the world around you is constantly moving, meaning you learn very quick how to be adaptable and flexible in how you work.

Being trusted to represent students in key university meetings means I have learned some high-level communication skills, as well as how to interact with different levels of senior management. On a day-to-day basis, I get experience in managing events, understanding finances, and leading an organisation.

Being an officer opens your world to so many different experiences and allows me to use my passion to create change. The support for future endeavours is second to none, with experiences such as being on an interview panel for senior staff all being offered to help you develop yourself.
