Information Event on Horizon 2020: Collaborations and Accessing European Research

The event will focus on Horizon 2020's ‘Societal Challenge 6: Europe in a Changing World’, to provide an overview and advice on the scheme, along with guidance on developing international collaborations.  

Audience: academics within the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences interested in understanding more about Horizon 2020 and the opportunities it presents and in developing international collaborations.

Speakers will include:

  • Professor Paul Heywood - Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and who has first-hand experience of European programmes and of international collaborations
  • Ben Sharman  - the ESRC National Contact Point for Societal Challenge 6
  • Manija Kamal  - a new ESRC National Contact Point for interdisciplinary areas of opportunity within other challenges of H2020.
  • Martin Pickard – the University’s European funding bid writer

Participants have the option to book a 15 minute 1:1 slot with either: 
Martin Pickard (Room A10) to talk through their draft EU Funding grant proposal and receive expert guidance and advice
Ben Sharman and Manija Kamal  (Room A12) for questions and specific advice not covered during the main session

Horizon 2020

  • Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever, with nearly €80 billion of funding over 7 years (2014-2020).
