Richard Barwell, Senior European Economist at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) will present a public lecture entitled 'The life and times of a central bank watcher' on Monday 9 March 2015 from 12pm to 1pm in Room X1 Chemistry Building, University Park Campus, Nottingham.
"Richard is responsible for economic and policy analysis to help formulate the macroeconomic outlook for the Eurozone, the resolution of the sovereign and banking crisis in Europe and policy decisions at the European Central Bank. He joined RBS in 2010. Prior to joining RBS, Richard worked at the Bank of England. During that time, he held several roles in the Monetary Analysis Directorate, including working on the Inflation Report and UK forecast teams, and more recently on financial stability issues. Richard holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics." (source: RBS website)
During his presentation, Richard will share what he does for a job and why, and spend some time talking about interesting economic policy questions that you may read about in the press, such as:

• Quantitative Easing: does it work
• Did austerity work?
• The European debt crisis.
