Facilitating Impact

RKE support for the School of Chemistry Research Themes

A key objective of the BPU is to provide dedicated support to the Research Themes identifying funding opportunities and industry links, establishing a healthy pipeline of impact activity at various stages of maturity and delivering impacts at local, regional, national and international scale.

The School of Chemistry Research Themes are supported by the following BPU team members:

  • Physical, Theoretical and Computational: Dr. Harry Taylor and Harriet Hodgkins
  • Inorganic and Materials: Prof. Trevor Farren and Lucy Silvey
  • Organic and Biological: Dr. Harry Taylor and Dr. Tom Ward

Impact Audits

The BPU regularly conducts impact audits of research within the School and has, to-date, identified >100 impact opportunities in varying stages of development.

Leveraging input from industrial stakeholders, we ensure our research outputs are aligned to key societal and industry challenges.

Completing impact audits with academic staff also serves as an important opportunity for the BPU to engage with and support academics to highlight potential funding opportunities, commercialisation routes and knowledge exchange programmes which may benefit them.
