NottsYouthTrends 2023

NottsYouthTrends

City as Lab and the university’s Institute for Policy and Engagement is supporting NonSuch studios to launch NottsYouthTrends 2023, Nottinghamshire's largest youth voice survey listening to the voices, opinions and demands of 11-25-year-olds living across Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire to make the city and county a better place to grow-up, learn and achieve in.

The survey which collects anonymous data from any 11-25-year-old from across Nottinghamshire opened in July and collected submissions until 8 October. The data will be analysed by the NottsYouthTrends team and lead to the creation of a report which will shared at a youth-led launch event in early November, with connected events hosted by UoN through City as Lab and the Institute.

The Art of Understanding

AoB cover (002)

Working to understand how young people conceptualise well-being and mental health.  A series of arts-based workshops with young new arrivals in Nottingham, led by a local artist, will yield a creative multilingual dictionary of wellbeing and a final exhibition.  We hope participants will be able to advise on developing a lasting digital resource to support local young people’s wellbeing.

The interdisciplinary project brings together experts from the fields of refugee education, language and cultural heritage, and young people’s mental health.

The Art of Mental Stealth …a comic approach

Art_of_Mental_Stealth

The Art of Mental Stealth thinks creatively about how to deliver mental health messaging and intervention for young people in Nottingham by nurturing creative skills in visual storytelling (comics, film making, AI) as a bridge to self-awareness, expression and shared understanding.

Mental Stealth… a comic approach is a city-wide conversation exploring intersections between comics/graphic novels and mental health interventions, the therapeutic potential of creating comics, and how young artists are already merging these worlds. We’ll assemble as educators, artists, academics and young people at a kickstarter event to build partnerships and action plans for interventions.
