Events and Visitors

The department has played host to many distinguished visitors over the past century. Early visiting lecturers to Nottingham included eminent historians Sir Bernard Pares and Prince D S Mirsky, while in more recent years the department has enjoyed visits by Croatian writer Dubravka Ugrešić and Slovene author Miha Mazzini. 

A diverse range of conferences has been held, with themes ranging from Miloš Crnjanski and Modern Serbian Literature to Russian Humour and Satire.

Many events have been organised with the aim of promoting and encouraging the study of Slavonic languages and cultures.
