The department received a visit from the Soviet film star Elina Bystritskaya in the early 1960s, arranged through the offices of the British-Soviet Friendship Society.
Bystritskaya is best known for her role as Aksiniya in Sergei Gerasimov's epic 1958 screening of Mikhail Sholokhov's novel Тихий Дон (The Quiet Don).
