In 2014, Dr Monica White and Dr Polly McMichael organised a workshop exploring the theme of ‘Remakes in Russian Culture’.
The workshop included panels on representations of Russian culture for British audiences, featuring a live performance by professional folk musician Iryna Muha; attempts to recreate historical events and counter factual situations, including a description of a re-enactment of the Battle of Borodino; and reimaginings in literary and audio-visual culture, featuring papers on recent television adaptations of Bulgakov’s short stories and an exhibition at Cambridge University Library on Soviet design and architecture.
