In March 2015, the department held a celebration to mark 40 years since the first Slovene lector, Ljubica Crnivec, came from the University of Ljubljana to teach Slovene. In the presence of the Slovene Ambassador, His Excellency Tadej Rupel, members of the department gave a number of short presentations on their work in Slovene Studies. There followed by a concert with Slovene musician, Vlado Kreslin, who was joined by the University female voice choir. In the run up to the event, students studying Slovene in the department had been given the opportunity to work on translations of the songs which Kreslin performed. These were included in the programme accompanying the concert and some were also incorporated into his performance.
The programme for the evening (pdf) featured contributions from every Slovene lector and lectrice to have taught at Nottingham since 1975.
