In 1968, the department moved back into the Trent Building, occupying the ground-floor rooms that looked out onto the quadrangle and the car park. One of these was the A corridor common room, fondly remembered by many students for its role in creating a warm friendly atmosphere in the department. As former student Gina Mance remembers: ‘There was always someone in the common room with the kettle on and a list of Russian vocab to learn.’
In 2000, the department was relocated to rooms on B floor, and staff now occupy offices on the top C floor.
