First written by former head of department John Fennell, and published in 1961, The Penguin Russian Course has been an essential reference for generations of students learning Russian, particularly those students who were beginners, expected to progress from scratch to A-level standard by the end of their first year. The book was updated and published as the New Penguin Russian Course by Nicholas J Brown in 1996.
