Who should attend?
Anyone with an in interest in China will benefit from this six-week online Chinese language and culture workshops.
This beginner’s course, delivered by an experienced instructor from the Nottingham Confucius Institute at the University of Nottingham, will help you build a foundation for communication with your Mandarin speaking counterparts. You will be introduced to the basics of Mandarin and gain an insight into cultural attitudes and behaviours. There will be a particular focus on how to conduct yourself in business situations.
This is a lecture course in which topics are presented by the instructor, with language practice also conducted in class. The course assumes no previous experience of speaking Chinese
What is covered?
• Mandarin basics: greetings, how to address people, suggestions, numbers and prices, time, etc.
• Cultural elements: business meetings, banquets, tea ceremonies, Chinese food, Chinese festivals, choosing presents etc.
