Mandarin Corner: Chinese Tea Ceremony

Friday 10 May saw over 70 UoN staff, students and local residents immersed in the rich traditions and history of Chinese tea while enjoying a variety of flavours and aromas at the Mandarin Corner event organised by the Nottingham Confucius Institute (NCI) .

The 90 minute event started with a brief introduction to the origin, development and inheritance of Chinese tea culture by our student host, a tea enthusiast Miss Zhu Zhenzhen. She covered various interesting topics ranging from the "Tea Book" by the ancient tea saint Lu Yu to some diverse aspects of modern tea culture. This was followed by a tea ceremony demonstration by NCI teacher Miss An Yizhuo, who gracefully showcased the intricate techniques required in every step of the process: selecting tea, choosing water, brewing and serving tea. Miss Zhu and Miss An’s efforts were warmly received by the audience.

Following the demonstration, the participants had the opportunity to visit each of the  three stations set up in the room: the tea-making, tea-tasting and chatting stations. They not only learnt how to brew Chinese tea first-hand and savour the unique taste of different Chinese teas, but also enjoyed sharing tea-drinking traditions of their own country or region. The room was filled with the sweet aroma of tea and lots of laughter.

汉语角|茶韵绽放：共赏中国茶文化之美

 2024年5月10日晚，诺丁汉大学孔子学院迎来了夏季学期首期汉语角——“中国茶文化”活动，吸引了70多位中外师生欢聚一堂，共同探索与体验中国悠久而丰富的茶文化。

活动伊始，主持人朱贞真生动地讲述了中国茶文化的起源、发展与传承，从古代茶圣陆羽的《茶经》到现代茶文化的多元面貌，每一个故事、每一段历史都让在场的听众沉浸在深深的茶文化海洋中。

紧随其后的茶艺展示环节，成为整晚的亮点。安一卓老师以精湛的手法演示了中国传统茶艺，从选茗、择水、烹茶到奉茶，每一个细节都透露出对茶的尊重与热爱。随着茶汤缓缓注入瓷杯，一股清新的茶香瞬间弥漫，现场的中外友人无不为之动容，掌声雷动。

最后是互动体验环节，精心布置的泡茶、品茶与聊茶摊位成为了交流的热点。参与者们在老师们的指导下尝试亲自泡制中国茶，从温润的绿茶到浓郁的黑茶，每一种茶都带给他们全新的味蕾体验。品茶之余，大家在聊茶区分享各自国家的饮茶习俗，茶桌旁的笑声与交谈声此起彼伏。现场茶香四溢，笑语连连。

此次汉语角活动，不仅是一次对中国传统文化的生动展现，更是一个促进国际友谊与文化交流的平台。参与者纷纷表示，通过此次活动，他们不仅学会了如何鉴赏中国茶，更重要的是深刻感受到了中国文化的深度与温度，增进了对中国文化的亲近感和兴趣。
