23 June saw over 40 Nottingham staff, students and local residents join NCI in celebrating Dragon Boat Festival at the last of this year’s summer-term Mandarin Corner sessions. Some event highlights can be viewed here.
After a talk on the origins and customs associated with the festival, the participants followed NCI teacher Miss Shasha Kong’s step-by-step guide to making scented sachets. Scented sachets are believed to bring good luck and ward off bad spirits and disease-carrying insects if worn or hung up in the home.
As part of the celebration, participants also ate rice dumplings, a traditional Dragon Boat Festival treat.
Feedback from participants was excellent. Several of them expressed how keen they were to take part in upcoming NCI Summer School cultural workshops, which will take place every Wednesday evening throughout July.

汉语角 | 制香囊端午祈安康
2023年6月23日星期五晚6：30，诺丁汉大学孔子学院举办了本学期最后一期汉语角，主题紧扣传统佳节端午节，活动内容丰富多彩，尤其以制作香囊留住端午节庆余韵为亮点。让我们一起来回顾这场精彩活动！
活动开始前，参与者们完成签到，领取了端午介绍海报与香包制作步骤图示，进入活动室静待活动开始。
6点30分，活动以一场生动有趣的端午知识问答开始。参与者们需要在观看端午介绍短片后回答10个问题。大家积极参与，争相回答各种与端午相关的问题，不仅增长了知识，还收获了一份份小礼物。在这个环节，我们一起探究了端午节的由来、传统食物和习俗，让更多的人了解中国的传统文化。
接下来，我们迎来了制作香囊的环节。香囊作为端午节的传统饰品，不仅具有独特的美感，还寓意着祈福和驱邪的象征。工作坊里，参与者们聚精会神地学习如何缝制、填充香料等技巧。大家动手操作，经过一番努力，每个人都成功制作出精美的香囊，满满的成就感溢于言表。
最后一个环节，品尝粽子！粽子作为端午节的传统食物，味道香醇，令人回味无穷。桌上摆满了各式各样的粽子，有甜有咸。大家围坐在一起，共同品味美食，分享欢笑与故事，一同度过了一个温馨而难忘的时刻。
这次的汉语角活动不仅增进了大家对端午节文化的了解，更通过互动交流、手工制作和共同品味美食，共同创造了一个友善、融洽的环境，让参与者们感受到了中华文化的独特魅力。
