Dr Xue-Zhong Sun Awarded Vice Chancellor's Medal

We would like to congratulate Dr Xue-Zhong Sun, Headteacher of Nottingham Chinese School (NCS) and Senior Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry, on receiving the Vice Chancellor's Medal on 1 October for his remarkable contributions to the local community over the past twenty years. The NCS is a volunteer-led community school offering Mandarin lessons from reception through to 'A' level. The number of students has grown from a handful 20 years ago to more than 250 today. Another round of applause for Dr Sun!

Dr Sun was nominated for the award by NCI Director Jason Feehily and Professor Mike George at the School of Chemistry. 

Criteria for the Award of the Medal include:

  • Exceptional achievement in a particular arena;
  • Outstanding contribution to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion in University life;
  • Notable endeavour which has made a difference to the University;
  • A substantive contribution which has enhanced the reputation of the University of Nottingham;
  • Activity which has had a noticeably positive impact for students, staff or the local community;
  • An individual achievement or sustained achievement over a period of time.
