Nottingham Confucius Institute joined in to celebrate the International Children’s Festival once again at the Wheee! Family Weekend. The free two-day community event took place in Highfields Park on 1st and 2nd June and was attended by over 4,500 people.

The Wheee! festival was established by Nottingham’s Lakeside Arts in 2005 and is a popular and eagerly anticipated annual event for local families. In addition to arts and crafts activities offered by NCI and several other local artists, Wheee! featured a spectacular Luminarium, amazing music/theatre workshops and performances. storytelling, discos, games and more.

NCI staff and student volunteers delivered a variety of nature-related arts and crafts activities to hundreds of children and families at the festival. They included panda mask making and coloring, brush painting, paper folding animals and playdoh. NCI’s marquee was very well attended with a flux of people throughout both days.

Feedback from the public was very positive. Many attendees thanked NCI for bringing fun, creativity and Chinese culture to their children’s weekends.
