The University of Nottingham has strong connections with Victoria County History (VCH), especially in Derbyshire. In collaboration with Derbyshire VCH, ‘Writing our History and Digging Our Past’ held a roadshow designed to reinforce the connections between the University, Derbyshire VCH and raise awareness of local archive services.
The event was attended by over 60 people who were a mixture of VCH Trust members and representatives of town and village local history societies. There was a small exhibition about the ‘Writing our History’ project and presentations about the work of the VCH and on the availability of research resources by Derbyshire Record Office, Derbyshire Local Studies Library and Derby City Local Studies Library.
The imminent launch of the HLF ‘All Our Stories’ funding programme was announced. There was great interest in this fund and a follow-up meeting, attended by the HLF East Midlands Development Manager was held on 26 May, specifically for groups interested in applying for HLF funding.
