The Centre for Research into Ideas and the Study of Political Ideologies (CRISPI) is delighted to announce the winner of the first annual CRISPI PGR Prize.
Benjamin Thomas completed his PhD ‘Conceptualising Ideological Transition: Centre-Right Neoliberalisation in the UK and post-war West Germany’ at the University of Nottingham in April 2023. Ben is now a Junior Fellow on the ‘Universalism and Particularism in European Contemporary History’ Project at the University of Munich.
The annual CRISPI PGR prize recognises the outstanding work of an SPIR PGR student working in the field of ideology studies
Professor Mathew Humphrey, Ben's PhD supervisors, writes:
‘Ben Thomas breaks genuine new ground in ideology theory with his research, and his development of a ‘refraction’ model of ideological change. His work also significantly enhances our understanding of the influence that the German experience of adopting ordoliberalism had on the UK Conservative Party in the late 1960s and 1970s.’
Congratulations to Ben!
