We want to make online exams as easy to access as possible.

A summary of important exam changes

  • You will not need to download the paper in advance for online exams
  • Short online exams (1-3 hours) will have an additional 30-minute upload window included in the time on Moodle
  • Exams taken in Rogo will have an additional 10 minutes will be added to allow for any minor technical issues

Read on for further details on changes to online exams.

Online exams will be released via the module’s Moodle page. The area in which you can access the exam paper will be accessible one week prior to the start of your exams, however the paper itself will not appear in this section until the designated release time.

You will not need to download the paper in advance – nor will you need a password to access it.

Short online exams (1-3 hours) will have an additional 30-minute upload window included in the time on Moodle. Please note that this window is intended for uploading your exam and you should not continue writing after the end of the stated exam length. Any work submitted after the end of the additional 30-minute period will not be accepted and will be given a mark of zero unless extenuating circumstances apply.

For exams taken in Rogo, an additional 10 minutes will be added to allow for any minor technical issues. For example, a one-hour exam will show 70 minutes on the countdown timer. If difficulties are experienced you should report these at the query form linked at the end of the exam.

Extenuating circumstances

The Extenuating Circumstances policy has been adjusted with regards to what can constitute acceptable supporting evidence, which now includes information from the NHS app. Please note that there will be no fast-track extenuating circumstances procedure for late exam submissions this year.

Find out more about the Extenuating Circumstances procedure.

In-person exams

Exams are taking place both online and in-person on campus. You will have been informed of any in-person exams by your module convenor and you’ll see the locations displayed on your exam timetable.

We are closely monitoring the ongoing coronavirus situation and following advice from the UK government and NHS. If anything happens in the next few weeks that may impact these exams then we will inform you directly. Please keep a close eye on your university email account and we wish you the best of luck with your assessments.
