Student Switch Off is a student accommodation sustainability campaign that takes place at universities across Europe.
The campaign provides advice to help you more sustainably at university, as well as offering regular competitions for added motivation throughout the year.
All halls on University Park and Jubilee campuses are competing to recycle and save the most energy per person, with the winners crowned the Student Switch Off champions at the end of the year.
Get involved to help your hall win, all while taking action on the climate crisis.
How you can get involved:
- Save energy & recycle as much as you can – if you’re living in one of the university halls you’re already automatically taking part in the competition.
- If you’re in one of the participating halls, take our student pledge here to let us know how you plan to live sustainably this year for the chance to win £50.
- Become a Student Switch Off volunteer for your hall – find out more and sign-up to the virtual training session here.
Over the last 4 years, 2,992 students at Nottingham have pledged to live sustainably as part of Student Switch Off and 135 students have trained as volunteers to help promote the sustainability message on campus. This has resulted in an energy saving equivalent to 142 tonnes of CO2 and a hall waste reduction of 283 tonnes.
More details and advice can be found on the Student Switch Off website or on Facebook.
