Develop sustainability solutions for our campuses, build essential employability skills, and gain real-world experience alongside like-minded students passionate about sustainability.

What is the Sustainability Challenge?

The Sustainability Challenge is designed to inspire you to create innovative ways to reduce waste, increase efficiencies and implement new sustainable ideas for our campuses. You will work in small groups to put your knowledge and skills of sustainability to practical use.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical real world work experience, interact with employers and develop projects that could have a tangible impact on our campuses.

Why should I apply?

The Sustainability Challenge will give you the opportunity to:

  • engage with key sustainability issues on campus
  • build essential problem-solving, teamworking, pitching, and presentation skills
  • interact with graduate employers and sustainability professionals
  • gain experience to enhance your CV

Last year, ideas ranged from a second hand online marketplace and a sustainable rewards app, to vape recycling and tree planting.

The Sustainability Challenge will take place 1.30-3.30pm on the following dates:

  • 5 February 2025
  • 12 February 2025
  • 19 February 2025
