As part of the University’s diversity festival, the Rights Lab would like to invite you to an online event to share their research on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on modern slavery.
The Rights Lab is the world’s largest research centre on modern slavery, and home to the world’s leading modern slavery experts. Our challenge-led, team-based approach to research fosters interdisciplinary collaboration between Rights Lab researchers representing 17 different disciplines from five different University faculties. The Rights Lab works closely with stakeholders in government, civil society, business, and intergovernmental institutions to deliver practically impactful research that speaks directly to the antislavery movement and those working in the field.
In 2020, the Rights Lab successfully secured six grants from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) as part of several rapid response calls to Covid-19. This online event will allow those undertaking this research to update you on their findings.
The six projects:
Covid-19 Risk and Response: Impacts and Mitigations for Modern Slavery Victims and Survivors
Covid-19 and Child Criminal Exploitation: Closing urgent knowledge and data gaps on the implications of the pandemic for county lines
Assessing the Impact of Covid-19 on People Vulnerable to, or Already Experiencing, Forced Marriage
The Impacts of Covid-19 on Modern Slavery in Transition: A Case Study of Sudan
Building Local Resilience to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking after Covid-19: Action-Research in Senegal and Kenya
