Keynote event: Having challenging conversations
Wednesday 10 March 2021, 2:30pm
Fireside chat with Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer West CBE, Chancellor Baroness Young OBE and Dr Max Biddulph, Associate Professor, School of Education and Chair of UoN LGBTQ+ staff network 2008-2020, University of Nottingham.
Hosted by Dr Max Biddulph, join the Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer West CBE and Chancellor Baroness Young OBE as they reflect on their own experiences of challenging conversations and discuss how self-reflection helps to acquire new awareness.
Challenge can be encountered not only through conflict but also in more nuanced forms such as the sharing of different perspectives. Equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) takes many forms within institutional life and it is the day to day lived experience that forms a key dimension of EDI work. This fireside chat will explore how our experiences and insights relating to EDI issues are acquired through having challenging conversations and will ask the question of how EDI institutional practice can harness the learning acquired from these conversations.
