Congratulations to Professor Kimberley Scharf who takes up her new role as Head of School of Economics.
Professor Scharf researches the economics of charitable giving, fundraising and philanthropy; public economics; social data science; international tax; political economy; and microeconomic theory. She received her PhD in Economics at the University of Toronto, and in addition to being a Professor of Economics and Public Policy, currently serves as the Director of the National Audit Office Centre for Tax Research. She has previously served as visiting Professor at the London School of Economics, Senior Economic Advisor at the National Audit Office, and Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick. She is Editor of Fiscal Studies and Associate Editor of Oxford Open Economics and The Economics Observatory. She teaches public economics and has led significant improvements in education and student experience during her time as Head of Department at Birmingham.
Professor Scharf follows on from Professor Facundo Albornoz Crespo’s successful four-year term as Head of School.
