THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER AND WILL BE RE-ARRANGED IN DUE COURSE.
This event celebrates the links between Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature, the University of Nottingham and schools, teachers, pupils and librarians in the region.
During the event there will be an opportunity to hear from Sandeep Mahal, Director of Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature about the ways in which your school community could engage with projects and activities supported by the City of Literature.
One example is Dawn of the Unread, a resource designed to encourage schools to use stories as a bridge between lessons, school libraries and independent reading. Another example is the Nottingham Young Poet Laureate, Georgina Wilding, who is available to do workshops, performances and residencies with schools in the Nottinghamshire area.
Nottingham Contemporary will also provide documents for distribution about the different ways in which teachers and pupils can engage with the learning team at the gallery.
We will also be launching a website created as part of the Building a City of Literature project undertaken by the School of Education and local schools.
This free website supports teachers to explore how the resources of their communities can be utilised in creative ways to develop pupil learning. The website is also a place where young people can publish the work they have created so that they and their schools can contribute to the building of their city of literature.
