Dynamic technology for dynamic mathematics: desirable teacher knowledge and practice

The ‘Dynamic Technology for Dynamic Mathematics’ project (DTDM), 2014-17, aimed to research secondary mathematics teachers’ knowledge and practice, in order to inform the design of a professional development toolkit to support ‘within school’ scaling and sustainability. In this seminar we will draw on the outcomes of this Nuffield Foundation-funded project to discuss some key components of teachers’ knowledge and practice that are necessary to support students’ productive uses of dynamic technology in the learning of key lower secondary mathematics topics. The session will include video examples from lower secondary classrooms and will offer practising teachers some valuable insights into more effective classroom approaches with dynamic technology.
