The University of Nottingham's Shell Centre for Mathematical Education, which was founded in 1967, has pioneered high-impact research and development. This focuses on the research-based design and development of materials and processes that help teachers teach better mathematics more effectively.
Thursday afternoon will look back on the Shell Centre's achievements, recently recognized by the International Commission for Mathematical Instruction with its first Emma Castelnuovo Award.
Friday will look forward, with the theme: "Impact-focused research - how can it become more effective?"
