Description

SEN and Disabilities Seminar Series 2024/25

Presented by Gareth Morewood, Educational Advisor

The seminar will highlight key challenges and areas of stress young people face in schools and what we as practitioners (and parents/carers) can do to improve the outcomes for the young people.

Gareth will draw on his extensive, first-hand experiences in working with families, young people and educational settings globally. Providing clear, practical ideas and offering suggestions as to what could be a good investment in your settings.

During the session Gareth will draw on some of the key ideas from his recent book, co authored with a parent of autistic twins.

Gareth is the Educational Advisor for Studio III. Previously he worked for 25 years in UK schools; 17 of which were as SENCo in a large, inclusive secondary school in the North West of England. Gareth has extensive ‘front-line’ experience supporting schools, families and working directly with young people in the U.K. and abroad, particularly Chile, Dubai, Portugal, Ireland, Gibraltar and Scandinavia.

Gareth is Co-Director of the LASER Programme, which fuses his critically acclaimed Saturation Model (Morewood, Humphrey & Symes, 2011) with Low Arousal approaches (McDonnell & Deveau, 2018) as part of a system-led model of inclusive practice.

As a visiting lecturer Gareth has taught on Postgraduate courses teaching non-adverse approaches supporting people with complex needs.
