Using art to work through trauma

The latest Institute of Mental Health (IMH) blog post focuses on Angie Martin's reflections and outcomes of her 'Roots' art exhibition displayed at the IMH from October 2017 to January 2018.

Angie is a former teacher and uses her art as a way of working through trauma. The purpose of this exhibition was to share her art work and inspire others to try art as a means of helping them through difficult times by finding ways to express their emotions and be in the “here and now”.

Angie used the displayed artwork to discuss growth and resilience through trauma with School of Education MA Trauma Studies students.
