Congratulations to Professor Volker Wedekind, who has been invited by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) to give a public lecture on vocational and occupational qualifications. The Chairperson’s lecture only happens every four years and is attended by key policy makers in the skills and education system.
Volker is the most highly respected South African researcher into vocational curriculum and pedagogy, and vocational learning contexts and as such has been asked to assist the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) community in deepening its understanding of vocational versus occupational qualifications. He will deliver the 2018 SAQA Chairperson’s Lecture, on the topic of “Considering the meaning of ‘vocational’ versus ‘occupational’ qualifications: is a distinction valid?” in Gauteng, South Africa on the evening of 12 February 2018.
