Dr Rita Hordósy attended the Research and Teaching Nexus in Norway during February.
Rita says:
"This study visit funded through the university’s International Research Collaboration Fund aimed to disseminate the results from my Nottingham Research Fellowship and to build links with colleagues from Norway. I presented my co-authored work with Meryem Betul Yasdiman, Gabriel Lee, Jenny Norris and Asad Lashari at three different departmental seminars, at the University of Oslo (UiO, Sociology and Human Geography and Faculty of Educational Sciences) as well as at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU, Department of Sociology and Political Science). At these seminars I talked about recently published or submitted papers on the research and teaching nexus, sociology as a disciplinary choice, and sociology as a future profession. I gained some great suggestions through the lively and supportive questions from colleagues. I had several further meetings, including the leader of Studies in Higher Education and Work (HEDWORK) at UiO; two colleagues at the Study of Professions at Oslo Metropolitan; and the president of the European Educational Research Association at NTNU. These discussions explored the opportunities for future collaboration on research symposia (especially at the Society for Research into Higher Education’s December conference), as well as raising the profile of the newly forming Higher Education Futures Research Group at the School of Education, University of Nottingham. I also had several meetings with colleagues at the Nordic Institute for Studies in Innovation Research and Education to discuss my work, chiefly to explore potential for funding collaboration."
