Biography

Kevin Richardson is Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Management and joint course leader of the full-time MA (Educational Leadership & Management) programme.

He has had a long and varied career in the education sector after initially entering the profession as a Business Studies Lecturer in UK Further Education College. He then undertook further study and after gravitating towards a management orientated career he studied part-time for Masters Degrees in Personnel Management (Aston University) and Industrial Relations (Keele University), the latter by distance learning.

After 5 years he progressed to Senior Lecturer status (delivering a range of first line leadership programmes) before later becoming an Assistant Principal & then Vice Principal in an FE College. It was in his third College that he sought to develop his academic appreciation of leadership in parallel with his leadership duties and he undertook an EdD at the University of Leicester (via Distance Learning). He then moved into the Higher Education sector as Programme Leader for the Work Based MA Educational Leadership programme & related CPD initiatives, including the professional development of aspiring Headteachers. He progressed to become Head of School (Education), Associate Dean (Education) and then Faculty Dean.

His academic, curriculum and leadership experience as well as his engagement in business development, strategic planning and organisational development have all helped to shape his insight into and his support of both full-time and distance learning Master's degree students. Related roles in School governance (Chair), a Non Executive Board role in a Private Training Organisation, Trustee for a Homelessness Charity as well as Chair of Housing Association have all served to provide him with a wealth of further knowledge, experience and understanding of leadership in diverse settings.
