The function of our project is a complex of apartments, an indoor farm and an organic market. The first floor of the apartment part is used for stores and basic services due to lighting problems. The northern part of the two-story building is used as a reception and gardening classroom. The whole community provides living space, job opportunities, and vocational training for low-income people. The whole complex is divided into two parts: the apartments and the farm, which are linked by a bridge. The first floor of the apartments is used for stores and basic services due to lighting problems. On the north side, the second floor is used for reception and gardening classes. The farm is elevated on the ground floor, creating a perfect gray space for the organic market.

I’m infatuated with building technologies especially sustainable technologies. In my opinion, building technologies make an architecture greener and benefit Eco-environment. The most fascinating point in this subject I think is the green roof corresponding the idea of ‘farm in city’. It offers a greener environment, a more beautiful surrounding and organic foods.

My name is Qihui Wang. I'm from China. I am very interested in Sustainable Building, which is also the reason why I chose MSC Sustainable Building and Technology. In my opinion, the interesting point of this project this year lies in the addition of a pleasant green color in the city. Meanwhile, the food miles of the surrounding communities are greatly shortened and the distance between production and consumption is shortened, which effectively guarantees the health of food and meanwhile promotes the concept of healthy life to the surrounding communities.

Rui Shi
I am the designer of team6. My work is mainly responsible for the overall shape and function of the building, the planning and design of the landscape and all the graphic work. This included sketching the project in the early stages, SketchUp and Revg and CAD drawing in the middle, rendering the final renderings and producing the analysis drawings.

Zhe Wang
As an engineer, I paid more attention to the technologies used in this project which included designing the ventilation systems and verifying their performance by using CFD. I also provided inspiration to our architect and helped her to arrange SU models. I had leant a lot from teamwork and finished an amazing project which I can’t do myself.
