Sustainable Urban Design MArch 

This project is about the renewal and renovation of the Broadmarsh area, focusing on the mixed-use design of the building and the non-motorized multi-traffic pavement design. The design concept "Doorway to Nottingham" is a metaphor for a set of traffic transition points that combine concentration and guidance.

Moreover, a detailed design was made for the unused land underneath the elevated tramway where near the Nottingham Contemporary. This design work is aim to use the multi-level functional planning, flexible space organization, and highly impactful lighting design and public art to provide a safe and pleasant external space for the community. Through the advancement and utilization of these spaces, not only the utilization of urban space resources has been improved, but also a variety of functional forms and rich spatial experiences have been brought to people.

Zhewei Chen, MArch student of the University of Nottingham. Her interests include the accessibility of pedestrian spaces in the city and the inclusion of communities in the past one year.
