Nottingham Hydro

Encouraging multi-generational interaction, the Nottingham hydro aims to aid all ages in offering water therapy and contemplation areas. My project considers the health benefits of warm submersion in water by encouraging therapeutic hydro and consultation spaces linked by running ‘rivers’. Through a basis in exploring connections by a continuous line, my building links occupants around the building, inferring but not forcefully showcasing the journey around the structure.

The site on Jubilee Campus has been left in disuse, surrounded by 2 bodies of water. Utilising the lack of identity surrounding the site, the project embodies the fluidity of water in its form to connect structure and nature, ensuring to design the landscape with the building.

Student Biography

I’m Isabella and I am a first-year Architecture student from Essex. Throughout the year I have enjoyed exploring drawing techniques and software programmes like affinity and SketchUp, whilst developing an interest in how architecture can create identity and incorporating art into building design.
