Anchored is a community project based in Great Yarmouth with the purpose of reconnecting the local community back to their maritime heritage.
The disconnection of the locals to the sea stems from the dying fishing industry as well as the booming seasonal tourism industry. This project is working to fight the disconnection as well as creating new job opportunities in the skill-based crafting of boats which can, in turn, fuel the fishing industry and create ship launching events for people to celebrate throughout the year. The public side of the project with the activity centre and restaurant sit alongside the workshop space and create a community hub for the locals to come together either in leisure or through working.
As a unit, 5B aims towards creating a project to nurture cities in a sustainable way, through interventions using environmentally conscious solutions often regenerating pre-existing buildings in new ways.
