A narrative process driven by observation and imagination to create architecture deeply rooted in an understanding of place.

Sam_Brooks

Sam is a third year architecture student who has an interest in both sustainable and speculative architecture. He aims to create thought-provoking but grounded schemes which accurately reflect the sensitivity of their surroundings. The development of his architecture focuses on visuals and computer modelling in parallel with hand drawn sketches.

Unit 4A is part of the narrative stream, we work with a process driven by observation and imagination to create architecture deeply rooted in an understanding of place.

My project is based around the notion of Fencombing, a derivative of beachcombing or the rediscovery of existing items. Through this, the scheme takes the form of an item exchange and shelter, utilizing the existing and allowing for the growth of the new. It exists around the current and extraordinary context, where the current represents the scheme within existing landscape and the extraordinary the anticipation of flooding via climate change.
