Solar-Punk in Clifton

Solar-Punk imagines a future where technology is fused with eco-centric values, and we thrive in harmony with nature.

S3 Commoning in Clifton ethos centres on creating empathetic, sustainable, and inclusive housing for collective living in a post-carbon economy, guided by degrowth principles and social and environmental justice.

Inspired by Solar-Punk, the scheme envisions a harmonious coexistence of humanity and nature, where shared & non-shared spaces weave new bonds of collective living whilst emphasizing community-driven energy & food production, nurturing a sustainable sanctuary for all. Located at the edge of Clifton, Nottingham, the project reimagines a 1950s terraced residential housing site. Set in 2060, it proposes new ways of collective living to address future climate challenges, promoting a community-driven culture focused on sustainable food and energy production. Maintaining and retrofitting existing buildings has been a key aspect of this project, demonstrating a vision of the future of architecture.

It's not a perfect utopia but one filled with love and care by the community, a version of a future we can all reach if we decide to put the work in.
