This urban design studio aims to re-thinking the relationship between the elderly and young through merge into the existing reality design in Serille, Spain.


Urban Design and Landscape Studio

This urban design studio aims to re-thinking the relationship between the elderly and young through merge into the existing reality design in Serille, Spain, which need to consider the existing warehouse of ancient preservation value and enliven the riverside area. 

The site is located at Sevill Port, Serille, Spain, which is an important transportation junction for both travel and goods. The advantages of near the city centre and having a big number of tourists, which make the site have strong potential for renewal.

The other main consideration of the studio is the climatic emergency of Serille. The long time drought, water shortage and global heating situation is getting worse as the design proposal needs to take the climate changing into consideration.

The design is creating a transportation system of Sevrill port with renweral the heritage warehouse and new riverside landscape that turn it into a new travelling centre for all age people.

Jie Ma

Jie Ma is a postgraduate student of sustainable urban design. He earned a bachelor degree from Sanjiang University, in China. And He worked as an assistant architect from 2020 to 2022. His interests are in public building design and urban design for underutilized and declining areas.

Xiao Yao

I am a student of sustainable urban design. I believe that good design is human-centred and balances functionality with aesthetics. The Autunm semester project encouraged me to further explore how to make human-centred design. I appreciate this period of study and thank the tutors and classmates for their help and support during my studies!
