I chose Nottingham because of its strong reputation, excellent campus and because I think it's a great city. I could see opportunity and a chance for growth and being able to take on management-related topics alongside my degree helped better prepare me for the corporate world.

The lake, the downs, its reputation, the campus, the city. The opportunities that having University of Nottingham on your CV brings.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

The campus atmosphere was always excellent. Engineering had what felt like its own quarter around Pope building. The Professors were willing to engage with students. The memory of library all-night sessions springs to mind! 

How has studying at University of Nottingham helped your career?

The University of Nottingham continues to be noticed as a leading university whose graduates possess both ability and personality, combining these traits with a solid work ethic. The University of Nottingham brand remains strong amongst leading Technology firms and the graduates that I mentor have a proactive “can do” attitude instilled from their time studying there. 

What advice would you give to current engineering students at Nottingham? 

Most young people looking for work hold a degree, so try and stand out by having a better understanding of the world outside of university. Alumni like myself will be happy to help. Embrace the opportunities that you have in front of you for the next three or four years. I regretted not joining enough societies and not travelling looking back. Above all, have fun!
