Biography

In August 2014, I took a role as an Assistant Professor with the PEMC group of the University of Nottingham department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. My work is mainly focused on linear machines for actuation, transportation and high speed launch.I am also a co-investigator on the EPSRC Underpinning Power Engineering Drives theme.

Previously, I spent several years working in Research and Development for Force Engineering, a UK based SME. Work in this role was split between internal product research and development projects for clients. Significant work included undertaking a demanding development project on advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launch motors which led to the design, production and successful testing of improved launch motors in a full scale UAV launch track. This body of work also led to my involvement in further studies of full scale aircraft launch motor systems for aircraft carrier scale deployment. I also worked on a variety of design and development projects for amusement rides and brakes, commercial baggage handling systems and linear generators.
