Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering
I was a secondary school teacher for 12 years teaching Science to GCSE level and Physics at A-Level before joining the Foundation Engineering and Physical Sciences (FEPS) Department in 2017.
Prior to this I worked in the motor industry for 15 years so I now combine my Physics and Engineering skills to support the delivery of the FEPS program.
I am an Assistant Professor in Department for Foundation Engineering & Physical Sciences (FEPS).
I support and mentor students throughout the Foundation Year and produce, and support the making of, video and audio teaching and engagement resources for the FEPS department.
I have a particular passion for space and have increased the space engineering content in the FEPS modules I teach on.
I carry out stimulating and engaging outreach activities externally and internally at the University with the aims of increasing uptake in STEM subjects and addressing the gender imbalance in Physics and Engineering.
I have been involved with The Gateway Earth Development Group who are currently investigating the feasibility of placing a space station at the edge of Earth's gravity well in a geostationary orbit. The plan is to develop a safe, functional and cost effective architecture for interplanetary space travel.
