My project is both a business plan and a product. The idea is for users to build their own furniture from the base components we as a company (Greener Pastures) would provide. They can create any size, shape and style they would like within our range of components.
If any part of the furniture gets damaged, it can easily be replaced and a new component ordered. When users’ tastes change and want to style their living space differently, the furniture can adapt and change according to the users’ needs. Any components required to adapt the furniture can be bought and any surplus to requirement can be returned to the company. This means there is little to no waste material and barely any of the components are sent to landfill.
The furniture range consists of a sofa, cabinet, shelves, TV stand, coffee table, side table and stool. All of these can change their shape and style easily by the user when required with very little effort, simply a click of the website.
Please check out the Greener Pastures website.
Student Biography I am a student at the University of Nottingham, graduating this year after completing a 4 year master’s course. I have always had a knack for creating ideas that can be out of the box and unconventional, but that still always fulfil the brief and manufacturing requirements that are given to me. The University of Nottingham has allowed me to develop my skills a as a designer, such as CAD idea generation, sketch work, modelling and rendering, but also allowed me to match that with a breadth of subject knowledge in manufacture and materials to back that up. I have also been able to use my time in university to develop my other skills and have lead a team of students to the national finals in a singing competition this year, as well as spearheaded a project to take this same group to perform a show at the Edinburgh fringe festival this summer.
