A Social Dining Hot Plate
Due to the ongoing cost of living crisis and the impact of Covid, more people are preferring to eat and entertain friends at home.
My product allows users to entertain and socialise with their friends over a long meal. It can act as both a hot plate to keep food warm throughout the meal, or, as a centrepiece and talking point such as by using it for a fondue style dessert.
The product, Calephyr, is a hot plate that can either be run on battery power providing at least an hour and a half of use giving the user plenty of time to chat with friends whilst eating their meal. Or it can be run off mains power through the charging cable provided with the product.
It is designed to be as versatile as possible for the user. It comes with a suitable pot to use, but it will also work with the users existing dishes so long as they can safely conduct heat. The product is designed to either be able to keep food warm over a longer time whilst the users socialise over their food, or to be used with dishes such as a cheese fondue or melted chocolate dipping dessert, to provide a talking point to a course of a meal as part of a social experience.
The Calephyr hot plate has several details that make it easier and safer to use. The control dial has a light that illuminates when it is on giving a clear visual que to the user. Thermochromic rings appear on the surface of the hot plate when it is hot to warn the user and prevent them from unknowingly touching it whilst the product is cooling down.
The product is designed to be easily stored away with the sizing of the product being carefully considered for this purpose. The charging cord wrapping around and storing inside the base was designed to be as efficient to store as possible. The product is also designed to be wiped clean after use to make it as easy and convenient as possible for the user.
