Biographical details
The Viceroy of Mexico from 1803-1808. He was the friend and patron of Ignacio Allende. (León Helguera, 39)
After Napoleon's invasion of Spain, he was overthrown in a coup on 16 September 1808, led by a group of peninsulares who feared a Creole separatist plot. He was replaced by Francisco Xavier de Lizana y Beaumont (interim) and then by a senior army officer, Francisco Xavier de Venegas. (Archer, 1595-1595)
