Biographical details

Born on 20 March 1782, Buenos Aires, she married Juan José Viamonte on 20 May 1800. He was later a general in the independence army. In 1810 she donated 50 pesos to equip the liberating expedition to Upper Peru. Viamonte donated 100 pesos and joined the campaign. She was chosen by Rivadavia to establish the foundation of the Sociedad de Beneficencia in 1823. She installed the Escuela de las Catalinas. In 1823 she was a member of a commission with María Sánchez and Isabel Agüero, to examine Lancaster's school. On 3 February 1826 she was named advisor to replace Manuela Aguirre de García, a post she held until 1830. She died in Buenos Aires on 18 March 1832. (Sosa de Newton, 171)

In June 1810, she donated 50 pesos fuertes for the independence cause alongside the 100 given by Viamonte. He took part in the disastrous Huaquí campaign as third chief of the army. She was one of the founder members of the Sociedad de Beneficencia. She died in Buenos Aires on 18 March 1832. (Carranza, 32-33)
