Biographical details

Born in Deal, Kent, England, on 7 September 1787. She married Admiral William Brown in 1809. In 1813 Brown moved to a house in Barranca, Buenos Aires and worked in business. Isabel and their two children joined him. She looked after Brown's affairs when he was away. In 1817 she returned to England with her children, but in 1823 they returned to Buenos Aires where they lived until Brown's death in 1857. Elisa, their eldest daughter, drowned in a tragic accident in Río de la Plata in 1827. She built a mausoleum to him and Elisa. She died in Buenos Aires on 28 July 1868. (Sosa de Newton, 172-173)
