Biographical details

Born in Salta, Argentina around 1782, she was known as a woman of culture. She married Spanish general, José de Carratalá, on 4 May 1817 when she was aged 35. Almost immediately the pair had to leave Salta as Güemes´ troops attacked the town. They fled on horseback under the patriots´ bullets. They lived in Madrid for many years; she died there.
